Place: New Arbat. Time: the present. And the leitmotif is the same as always—“. . . and eternal spring!” And how could it be any different? There’s always activity outside the enormous windows, as though the world just woke up . . . and took off. That happens only in spring time. And if you add to that original interior items selected by designer Igor Chapurin and the peppy gastronomic chatter of chef Bruno Marino, then it seems it’s not just spring, but at Spring. And what’s wrong with that?

In the café on the first floor, there are comfortable, modest-sized tables and couches, making it a pleasant place to sit and take in the atmosphere. The second floor is more intimate.

The interior is pure Chapurin. Everything about it is in fashion—elegance, femininity, a marriage of the classical and the avant-garde. Dignified white with dark brown, together with the drapes, make for a severe setting. But the forms and detailing on the chairs, like their metal legs and the upholstery tied to their backs with belts, play with the classicism of the elements that reside alongside. The result is perfect. It is just that sort of elegance that isn’t boring.
