Concept

Tatler Club impresses with its dimensions—high ceilings with restored stucco moulding, supported by stately columns, and plate-glass windows in the floor with captivating views of the garden and the embankment below. In the hands of well-known Moscow designer Irina Glik, the former restaurant of the hotel Ukraine underwent a dramatic transformation. The restaurant’s interior is a cocktail of classical features, art deco, pop art, and contemporary art, breathing new life into the room’s Stalin-era empire style. The dining room acquired a captivating custom-made crystal chandelier, a red piano, and modern leather furniture.

And even while being airy and open, the restaurant is also (pleasantly, paradoxically) cozy, comfortable, and elegant.

During the day, the restaurant is filled with soft natural light that penetrates the vaulted windows, reflecting off the massive white columns that remain from the hotel’s original interior. The bright atmosphere of day transitions to soft lighting toward evening, when the space takes on rich, saturated tones and turns into a pre-party spot that manages to be both egalitarian and glamorous.

Another of the restaurant’s manifest merits is its professional lighting setup, which makes it a place equipped to host even the most high-class events.

Tatler Club is a fashionable place. As a joint project with the magazine Tatler, the restaurant has a concept that intertwines with that of the magazine. Fashion and style are present in every detail, and the interior is filled with photographs from the Tatler archive, shots of society life and fashionable people from cities around the world.

As for the food, besides the now traditional blend of Russian and European dishes on offer, a special place on the menu is reserved for Ukrainian cuisine: forshmak herring pâté, chicken Kiev, borscht with garlic sour cream, vareniki and draniki (bite-sized dumplings) prepared both traditionally and with an original twist. Those with a sweet tooth won’t be left indifferent by the delectable desserts from the Tatler Club pastry chef, such as a minestrone of fruits with orange-mint sorbet, a cheese soufflé with passion-fruit jello, and a layered milfei with strawberry sauce.

Tatler Club is an ideal place—the perfect fit for both intimate rendezvous and raucous parties.
