“Scream”! Could there be a better name for a karaoke bar? For some reason, it’s always a lot more fun to sing at a karaoke bar than at home—having other groups of singing people around is always a delight. Just as someone from a neighboring table begins to belt out a number, you realize that you too can’t live without that song. You thought you felt a tickle in your throat in the morning, but by evening, it seems you’ve found your voice. It’s pretty clear why the Japanese so love their national pastime, and why other peoples have adopted it as well. At Scream, sometimes the choir—that is, you—even breaks into mass sing-alongs, and that just makes things all the more fun.
